Berrien Communities brace for Memorial Day weekend during COVID crisis

Berrien County, MI (Info269) - Memorial Day is the traditional start of the busy tourist season in Berrien County. This area of Michigan is still under a Stay At Home order until May 28th. The community is largely polarized on enforcement of the Stay at home order.

Some Berrien County communities have elected to open parks and beaches ahead of May 28th. Most notably, Silver Beach, in St. Joseph, operated by Berrien County will be open. Berrien County Sheriff Paul Bailey made a statement in the Herald Palladium that enforcement of social distancing will occur.

Parks and beaches in some Berrien County cities and townships remain closed.

The Berrien County Sheriff's Office continues to accept reports of violations of the stay-at-home order. If you wish to make a report please do so online.
